The bootstrap 4 version 3.1.4 works correctly but the 3.2.2 that I'm pulling from jsdeliver does not work correctly and comments about bootstrap 3. Not sure if it this version is correct or possible a bootstrap 3 style.

    bootstrap 4 version 3.1.4

I presume you mean Bootstrap 4 with DataTables 3.1.4?

3.2.2 that I'm pulling from jsdeliver

I accidentally tagged a 3.2.2 version of DataTables about 10 years ago! Maybe that is what you are running into? (It is hard to say without a test case).

Don't use 3.2.2 from jsdelivr, that version was deprecated within minutes of it being released and if anything is advertising that version, it is wrong. Are you using a package manager?

I would always recommend you use the DataTables download builder to make sure you get the correct versions. You can then map from there to jsdelivr if you want to use that CDN.

Actually using libman inside visual studio and usually just update to the latest versions when I go through client side libraries and this came up as the latest version. Thanks, I will steer clear of that version.

    libman

    jsdelivr

Interesting. I'll investigate where libman gets its version information from.

I'm looking forward to getting to v3.2.3 and that mistake can be finally relegated to the dust!
